PETITION TO EMPD & WARD 91 COUNCILLOR: ENFORCE EKURHULENI BYLAWS ON SIDEWALKS & ROAD SAFETY

We, the undersigned residents of Norkem Park and Birchleigh North, Ward 91, call on EMPD and the City of Ekurhuleni to enforce Ekurhuleni bylaws on Mooifontein, Pongolariver, James Wright, and Mooiriver Roads.  

Expectation:
Sidewalks and bus shelters to be kept clear of illegal parking, loitering, and vandalism to ensure safety for all pedestrians, including the elderly, children, and persons with disabilities.
Currently:
Church agents, work seekers, Ubers, taxis, homeless persons, and others park, sit, or sleep on sidewalks in contravention of the Street Conduct/Behaviour By-laws, the Restriction of Access By-law, 2021, and the National Road Traffic Act.

We request increased EMPD patrols, immediate removal of obstructions, enforcement of by-law penalties including fines and warnings, and the installation of proper signage at bus stops stating: “For passenger use only. No loitering per Ekurhuleni bylaws.”
