Community Petition Regarding Proposed Houseless Tent/Shelter AreaLocation: Snow Dump Area – End of Finlayson Street, La Ronge, Saskatchewan

We, the undersigned residents and community members, respectfully submit this petition to express our opposition to the proposed development of a houseless tent or shelter area at the snow dump location at the end of Finlayson Street in La Ronge.

While we recognize and support the need for compassionate solutions that assist individuals experiencing homelessness, we believe that the proposed location raises serious concerns for nearby residents, community safety, environmental impact, and overall suitability for long-term support services.

Our concerns include, but are not limited to:

• The proximity of the proposed site to residential areas and families.

• Potential safety concerns for nearby residents and property.

• Environmental and sanitation considerations related to the snow dump location.

• The need for a more appropriate site that allows for proper infrastructure, services, and long-term support for those in need.

We respectfully request that the Town of La Ronge and relevant authorities reconsider the proposed location and engage in further consultation with community members to identify a more appropriate and supportive solution for individuals experiencing homelessness.

We believe that solutions should prioritize both the well-being of vulnerable individuals and the safety and sustainability of our community as a whole.
